Marie Antoinette Uy's Debut Party at City Gardens!

Was browsing our Larawan Photography’s archives when I came upon this set from June 2009 – Marie Antoinette Uy’s debut party!

Overflowing drinks and a ton of food were the order of the day amidst the fun and excitement brought about by Marie Antoinette’s introduction into society.

For those not in the know, everything was planned and prepared by the debutante herself! And I kid you not!

Marie Antoinette Uy’s debut was held at the rooftop of City Gardens, Makati City.

The show must go on...

For one reason or another, more and more people are loving photography; WHY NOT! its easier than painting, it's cool and it's fun. CLICHE! Well, partially telling the truth is actually not lying.

I have a friend who is already a resident of Singapore and only recently that we found out that we became potty with the same thing, PHOTOGRAPHY. So when he visited the Philippines last August 2009, and on the spur of the moment we decided to do a shoot . To make it more occupying, we invited some models to pose for us. 

Because it was a Sunday (most of the studios in Makati were closed, or lack of connection perhaps) we decided to do it wheresoever possible.The experience turned out to be not so nice. We were ask to move out several times, not to mention the militaries with armalite on hand asking us to leave. JEEZ!, speaking of the concomitant beauties of photography! Thus, the day ended with several bottles of beer earlier as expected.

September 25 - he was here again and before that day arrived everything was already planned. The shoot was scheduled on the 28th but as we all know (how can we easily forget) Ondoy's harrowing experience tried to stop it again. Only this time, CLICKING prevailed. We did it in my own grounds...

The Probe interview was conducted at the AMF-Puyat Superbowl at the Makati Cinema Square in Makati City. It highlights the illustrious career of Efren Bata Reyes, incuding his childhood, money game matches, unforgettable moments in the sport, local and international wins, his rise from poverty to becoming a local hero, and more!

Cheche Lazaro’s unique way of asking questions, coupled with Efren Reyes’ witty remarks makes this interview a rare treat for anyone who wants to know more about the Kid who did good!

Larawan Photography: It's J.C. & The AnitoKid!

Photography: Drawing with light. A passion.

Both of us, Jason Calubaquib, aka J.C., and Leslie Mapugay, aka The AnitoKid, were very much surprised when we learned that we acquired (separately) our respective gears in December 2008 – and on the same day! Coincidence? Maybe. Destiny? Definitely!

Nothing was planned – it just happened! We had different goals for acquiring our equipment, i.e., J.C. wanted to learn how to draw with light, while The AnitoKid wanted to upgrade his equipment. And that was that.

Fast-forward two months – February 2009. We, together with our best friend Lito de Castro, decided to go to Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines. ‘Twas two days of fun filled with non-stop shoots at the Panagbenga Festival! And believe you me, we took pictures of everything for like 16-18 hours/day! After two weeks, we decided to go back again to the City of Pines for two more days! Lo! And behold! Everything – logic and reason - unfolded before us! Jason found a new love, while The AnitoKid rediscovered his (he was into film photography in high school).

In the ensuing months, we turned our respective loves into one great passion – LARAWAN PHOTOGRAPHY! And a successful one at that! It is with great pride and joy to inform friends and all that in just a few months, Larawan Photography has carved a name for itself in competitions and club contests! Moreover, it has made some big strides in the business side of things. How big? Consider these: Larawan Photography has realized a number of satisfied clients and has been the word of mouth in various events, e.g., weddings, debuts, birthdays, and sports entertainment! But wait! There’s more! Did you know that Larawan Photography is now the Official Photographer of Hard Rock Café, Makati City, Air Force One, DMC Philippines, and the Makati Pool Players Association? Yes, we are! And we kid you not!

And why the blog? We sincerely believe that the blog is the perfect way for Larawan Photography to share with everyone some of our unforgettable shoots! After all, we don’t just take pictures. We preserve memories. And we tell the story. No more. No less.

Without further ado, here is a YouTube video - a compilation of some of the shots we took during our first paid gig – the Christening of Sasha Castro Dy – the granddaughter of former Isabela Governor Faustino Dy, Jr. The pictures were taken on May 24, 2009, at the Sanctuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City.
